About

Created to give people more time, clarity and support

DementiaDetect was created from a belief that AI should serve deeply human needs. Dementia affects not only memory, but families, relationships, independence and identity. Too often, people wait too long for answers.

Our story · From the founder

Why I founded DementiaDetect

DementiaDetect began with something deeply personal: my Grandma.

I grew up incredibly close to her. She was one of those people who shaped the rhythm of family life. The person whose presence made everything feel warmer, safer and more certain. Like so many families, we did not realise at first that the small changes we were seeing might mean something more.

It was not dramatic in the beginning. It rarely is.

It was the little things. A moment of confusion. A repeated question. A change in routine. A word that would not quite come. A shift in confidence that was difficult to explain. Individually, these moments were easy to excuse. Together, they were trying to tell us something.

But we did not know what we were seeing. And that is the part that stayed with me.

Because when families do not know what is happening, they can lose precious time. Time to understand. Time to talk. Time to plan. Time to support each other. Time to make the most of the moments that matter.

DementiaDetect was created from that experience, and from a very simple belief: families should not have to wait until the signs become impossible to ignore before they are given clarity, support and a way forward.

My work in health informatics and AI has shown me what may now be possible. The subtle changes that families notice, but often cannot interpret, may also appear in patterns of speech, sleep, movement, behaviour and everyday routines. With responsible AI, we have an opportunity to listen to those signals earlier and support people before uncertainty becomes crisis.

But this is not about technology for its own sake.

For me, DementiaDetect is about people. It is about dignity. It is about helping families recognise change sooner, so they can have better conversations, seek support earlier and protect more of the time that dementia too often takes away.

I cannot change what happened in my own family. But I can help build something that gives other families more clarity, more confidence and more time.

That is the purpose behind DementiaDetect.

The purpose

To help people know earlier.

To help families act with love, not fear.

And to help make the moments that matter last as long as possible.

The founder

Built with both heart and expertise

The story is personal. The approach is rigorous. DementiaDetect brings together lived motivation and a professional background in health data and AI.

The aim of sharing this is not ego. It is trust: so families, clinicians and partners know this work is grounded in genuine expertise as well as genuine purpose.

Our mission

More time. More clarity. Better support.

Our mission is to help detect the earliest signals of dementia-related cognitive decline, so people, families and clinicians have more time, more clarity and more control.

By combining health informatics, AI and a values-led approach to innovation, DementiaDetect aims to help identify early signals of cognitive decline and support a future where dementia risk is understood sooner, more compassionately and more effectively.

AI is the mechanism, not the purpose. The purpose is earlier support, better understanding, and more dignified care.

What we believe

Earlier insight can change lives

Not because earlier detection removes the difficulty of dementia, but because it gives people something precious: time, dignity and the chance to prepare.

Humanity first

We put people before data, and respect the emotional weight of dementia and the dignity of those affected.

Earlier understanding

We believe earlier insight creates better choices, without ever promising a cure or guaranteed prevention.

Responsible AI

We lead with ethical, explainable and clinically responsible AI, and we do not over-claim.

Trust through evidence

We are evidence-led, not hype-led, and careful with our words.

Dignity and empowerment

We focus on agency, support and humanity, not only on decline, fear or loss.

Collaboration

We work as a partner to clinicians, researchers, families, carers and health systems.

Join us in building earlier, kinder detection

We are building DementiaDetect with people, clinicians, researchers and partners who believe earlier understanding can change lives.
